Producer/remixer Jason Slater (Snake River Conspiracy) and sound designer/remixer/engineer Keith Hillebrandt (Useful Noise/NIN) formally agree to remix tracks for Shacklegrind.

Shacklegrind is spotted in Hollywood, having lunch at The Newsroom Cafe with the cinematographer from The Exorcist, Owen Roizman. Could there be an Exorcist-style video in Shacklegrind’s future? Stay tuned!

Mackie interviews Shacklegrind for a user story about her use of the UAD-1 card for her new material.

Shacklegrind is spotted at NAMM, checking out freeze tracks and hob-knobbing with Logic guru Phil Jackson at the Emagic booth, getting the lowdown on the lastest virtual instruments out for the Mac, swooning boys at the Line 6 booth, and blowing kisses to Bob Moog across the show floor.

Shacklegrind receives a mysterious package in the mail from MBM, which turns out to be a track from the legendary Jack Dangers! Believe it or not, Jack Dangers has invited Shacklegrind to play with a top secret track of his! Shacklegrind is most elated and grateful to be given the opportunity to remix the daddy o’ dub electronica!

Five new streaming audio clips have just been added to the audio page, including “chances are,” “blaspheme,” “on the edge,” “the director” and “confusion.”

Filmmaker/videographer and bass player(Ash) Mark Hamilton asks Shacklegrind to score music for Ash’s indie slasher flick, which will feature the band, as well as cameos from Chris and Jonny of Coldplay, Moby, Dave Grohl, Andy Dick and others.

September 2002
Shacklegrind is featured artist on KSCU Santa Clara, interviewed for two hours by DJ Nightshade. Shacklegrind plays seven new never-heard-before tracks including “chances are,” “blaspheme,” “on the edge,” “need,” “the director,” “confusion” and “rise above.”

Shacklegrind goes live, with the help of John Baily (guitar), Jason Vasquez (bass) and Julia Cooke (drums), plus Steph on guitar/vox/samples, headlining at The Hotel Utah in San Francisco.

Family emergency pulls Shacklegrind from the studio.

Steph re-emerges as Shacklegrind, goes back in the studio, starts recording new songs for upcoming release.

KSCU reviews “Steph: the demo series” online. Filming begins for upcoming music video.

July 2001
July 25, 2001—Steph is featured on “Outside of Here,” a track on instrumental act Andalusia’s “Such A Heavenly Eyesore” CD and performs live with them at their record release party at Fuel 44. July 23, 2001—Steph’s CD hits heavy rotation in the #4 spot on KSJS’s RPM list.

June 2001
June 6, 2001—Jeff Kahn, editor of Stiction Online: The Future of Electronic Music, interviews Steph about her inspirations, songwriting and the recording process. June 1, 2001—Steph releases five-song CD “the demo series”to radio and press.
